An Indian dietitian on the Gold Coast, not a translated Western meal plan

Shilpi Arora is an Indian dietitian and accredited nutritionist who consults in English, Hindi and Punjabi, and builds dietary guidance around the food you actually cook — rice, roti, dal, festival meals — rather than asking you to adopt an unfamiliar diet on top of a health condition.

Consult in your language

Full consultations run in English, Hindi or Punjabi. There are also short introductions in Gujarati and Bengali for anyone who'd rather enquire in that language first — see them below.

    Food you actually cook

Diabetes, cholesterol and weight guidance adjusted to a real South Asian kitchen — ghee and oil use, rice-based meals, festival eating — rather than a generic low-carb sheet. See Indian food and diabetes for what that looks like in practice.

    Clinical depth, culturally applied

Eighteen years across diabetes, weight management and gut health — Medicare chronic-condition referrals, DVA and telehealth all available.

Why culturally relevant nutrition care matters

Nutrition advice is easier to use when it starts with the foods already present in your home. A plan for diabetes, cholesterol, digestive health or weight management should be able to work with rice, roti, dal, sabzi, yoghurt, legumes, vegetarian meals, family-style eating and festival foods — not require a second, separate menu for one person.

    What can we work on?

Common reasons South Asian patients see Shilpi includediabetes and prediabetes, weight management, high cholesterol and cardiovascular risk,IBS and digestive symptoms, kidney nutrition and women's health. The clinical goal comes first; culture and language shape how the plan is made practical.

    Indian vegetarian nutrition

Vegetarian eating can be nutritionally strong, but the details still matter. A consultation can look at protein variety, meal balance, fibre, portions and the way common staples fit with your individual health needs. Advice is personalised rather than based on the assumption that all Indian or vegetarian diets are the same.

    English, Hindi and Punjabi consultations

Full appointments are offered in English, Hindi and Punjabi. Gujarati and Bengali pages on this website are introductory information only and do not imply full consultation fluency in those languages.
