An online dietitian, wherever you actually are

Video consultations with Shilpi Arora, APD, for people across Australia who are not near the Gold Coast clinic — or simply prefer the convenience of seeing a dietitian from home. Private, eligible Medicare GPCCMP and DVA pathways are available.

No local clinic needed

A video link is sent ahead of your appointment. All you need is a stable connection and somewhere private to talk — no travel, no waiting room.

Same rebates, same care

Eligible Medicare chronic-condition referrals and DVA arrangements can be provided by telehealth — see the fees page for the numbers.

In your language

Telehealth consultations run in English, Hindi or Punjabi, the same as in-clinic appointments — see the bicultural care page for more.

Telehealth dietitian for Brisbane

There's no Karma Nutrition clinic in Brisbane — the practice is based across Gold Coast clinics in Arundel, Currumbin Waters and Biggera Waters — so for Brisbane patients, telehealth is the way to see Shilpi without the drive down the M1. The consultation itself is identical to an in-person one: a full assessment, a practical plan built around your household and clinical picture, and a review schedule, all by video. Brisbane GPs can refer using the same GP Chronic Condition Management Plan pathway — see the referring GPs page for the pathway.

What an online dietitian appointment involves

The clinical structure is similar to an in-person appointment: a review of your current diet, health history, lifestyle and any referral information, followed by a discussion about what is realistic for your household and schedule. The result is a practical set of priorities and a review plan rather than a generic PDF. See the full consultation approach.

What can be managed by telehealth?

Online consultations are available across Karma Nutrition's clinical services, including diabetes and metabolic health, weight management, IBS and digestive health, cardiovascular health, women's nutrition and other dietetic concerns. If your situation requires examination, testing or another clinician's assessment, that should still occur through the appropriate medical service.

What you need for the appointment

A phone, tablet or computer with a stable internet connection, a private place to talk, and any referral, medication or relevant health information you already have. You do not need special software or a perfectly completed food diary before booking.

Can I use Medicare or private health for telehealth?

Eligible Medicare GPCCMP and DVA arrangements can apply to telehealth. Private health rebates vary by fund and policy, so check your cover for dietetics. See the fees and funding page for current information.
